In a bold move, Solano County Activists filed a petition to impeach Solano County Superior Court Judge Christine Carringer.
For years, female litigants have tried to raise awareness of the pervasive bias in the Solano County Family Court System, of which most Family Law Attorneys are well aware, only to be routinely dismissed as emotional women unhappy with the outcomes of their cases.
When these litigants began to aggregate and compare stories, they realized that despite the differences with their cases, they all shared similar experiences and nearly identical court orders.
Most disturbingly, in cases where domestic violence was alleged, the VICTIMS were routinely placed on supervised visitation, forced to pay hundreds of dollars, monthly, to have parenting time with their children.
In more than three cases, that we have knowledge of, Judge Carringer disregarded the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act and took jurisdiction over custody cases that should have been litigated out of state or out of county. This burdened female litigants to either relocate to California, or continue residing in the home state, with no parenting time.
In several cases, Judge Carringer has claimed the female litigant abducted the minor children, even in the presence of prior court orders allowing a relocation. Carringer then used these abduction claims to take punitive and excessive action against female litigants. It bears noting that Carringer’s accusations of abduction are almost exclusivity used against female litigants, and very rarely against male litigants.
Carringer has also issued a gag order against one female litigant, not because the litigant discussed the parties to the case, but because the litigant discussed Carringer’s alleged biased rulings.
It is our belief that if we have dozens of cases of egregious bias, that there are many, many more. It is only with a proper audit of Solano County Superior Court Family Law records that the true depths of these numerous violations of Judicial Canons and Family Law Code can be uncovered.

It is time to shine a bright light on the egregious judicial misconduct in Solano County, that has been the dirty little secret among staff, litigants, domestic violence agencies and attorneys, for years. Family Law jurists have operated with almost no oversight. Litigants have been dismissed.
It is time for a drastic change. Lives, literally, are at risk.
